The Pilot Routeway programme took place 25th June 2014 – 7th August 2014; this gave Liverpool in Work (LIW) clients the opportunity to improve their employability and skills within the Construction industry through work placements, participation in workshops and further training sessions.
The Programme consisted of three weeks of classroom based industry related training delivered by Northern Liverpool Regeneration Company. The training the LIW Clients received helped improve their employability and skills within the Construction industry, consisting of both Vocational and Health and Safety workshops.
ISG, working in partnership with LIW via the Social Investment Group, provided four LIW clients with a two-day-a-week placement, which ran over three weeks. Each client was placed with our subcontractors on ECL project; these were Heyrods, Billington, Murraywood and B&F. The candidates were given the opportunity to work with all of ISG’s subcontractors who were working on site throughout their three week placement.
Each Client was able to gain a variety of experiences within the different trades on site, this also provided the LIW Clients the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and work ethic to potential employers.
Alan Hedgecock, Project Manager from Heyrod, was really impressed with Robert during his two day placement here at ECL. Heyrods offered him full time employment commencing 4th August 2014 and are also planning to support Robert in his studies towards his NVQ in Joinery.
Robert Mullen will be moving on to his next project with Heyrods in the City of Liverpool in November 2014.
"Robert has been a pleasure: he has interest and enthusiasm in all aspects of his work. He is showing great capabilities and once qualified in my opinion will make an excellent Formwork Carpenter"
Alan Hedgecock, Heyrods Project Manager
